Tune info: "The Sailor's Wife", also known as "New Shields", is a traditional Scottish tune from the early 18th century. The composer is unknown. You can find examples of sheet music HERE (scroll down to the jigs in D minor). There's a bit of history HERE. And a fiddle lesson for the tune, taught by Hanneke Cassel, on YouTube is HERE.

Making this video: In Jan 2021 Rob recorded the Sailor's Wife guitar audio & video tracks and edited a multi-camera guitar movie. Then he loaded the movie into the Acapella phone app and sent Elizabeth a link. Elizabeth composed a violin arrangement and recorded the violin audio track while listening to Rob's guitar track. Rob took the guitar and violin tracks, headed coastside, recorded a mysterious beachwalker, and then created this final music video. Elizabeth recorded audio only, no video, so we only have the giant sea scrolls emerging from the sand to help connect visually with Elizabeth and her instrument.

A note from Elizabeth:"The Sailor's Wife, a traditional Scottish jig, is a collaboration with guitarist Rob Carey. While this recording was meant to be only an initial sketch on my part to formulate ideas for a more polished version in the future, we decided to share it. It remains a work in progress, hopefully with future versions to come. "
